Vatican city is a small area of Rome despite being considered as a country in its own right. The Vatican is the focal point for may visitors to Italy particularly those whose religion is catholic.
Rome is also an important fashion and design centre thanks to renowned Italian fashion brands. Close to Piazza da Spagna are many of the luxury Italian branded shops such as Gucci, Prada etc.
There is a gay neighbourhood in Rome in small gay street (literary called “Gay Street” which opened in 2007) just beside the Colosseum where you can find a gay bars, cafes, clubs and restaurants popular with LGBTQ community.
The Rome gay pride takes place in June with tens of thousands joining the street parade to make a statement towards the Italian government and Vatican.
